Adult Education Programs

Adult Forums

Our Adult Forums offer Sunday morning adult education on the blending of faith and health. All Adult Forums will be held in the Atrium Lounge of the Sanctuary Building from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

April 27: The Healthy Brain: 4 Things You Can Do Now to Promote and Maintain Mental Fitness

Cindy Albing from Lyngblomsten will be our presenter. Evidence suggests that the way you live now can have a significant impact on the health of your brain 30 years from now. As physical health has improved and lifespan lengthened, we must ask ourselves whether our brainspan can match our lifespan. This session will explore brain physiology and strategies we can implement now to help ensure that our brains stay sharp throughout our lifespan.

May 4: Caring For Your Aging Parent: 8 Issues Confronting Today's Caregivers

Cindy Albing from Lyngblomsten will be our presenter. For people caring for aging parents (or spouses or other vulnerable adults), balancing caregiving responsibilities with one's own family, job, and activities can be downright difficult. From the most down-to-earth concerns to the most profound, caregivers often face countless exhausting, emotionally draining issues about the physical and emotional well-being of their loved ones. This presentation examines many of the issues confronting caregivers and offers tips and resources that can support you as you navigate your way through this challenging chapter of life.

May 11: Rock-n-Roll, Video and Women Preachers: What's Happening To Our Churches?

Carrin Mahmood, Director of Women's Ministry, presenter. We will be looking at our changing times, people, and churches. Some statistics to consider:
--38% of American children between the ages of 8-12 say church has made a positive difference in their life
--67% of American 20-somethings were involved in a church for at least part of their teen years, but no longer seek any kind of active spirituality
--45% of American adults say interacting anytime during the week with a Christian website rather than a church service is a complete and biblically sound way to express their faith and worship.

May 18: Columbarium Update

Join Pastor John Keller as he presents an update on the Columbarium that will be constructed here at St. Andrew's and the opportunity for people to participate.

This will be our final Adult Forum for the season. We look forward to starting up again in September. Watch future issues of the Omnibus for information on our 2008-09 series. Have a safe and restful summer.
