Career Networking Group
Meets 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Sanctuary Room 201
Sept. 2 Practice Your Networking Skills
Bring your business cards, your elevator speech and your resume.
This will be a time to help each other polish and critique the way we market ourselves professionally. Joel Pade will lead the meeting. Bring recent job postings you've seen to share with the group.
Sept. 16 Transitions
Job transitions are made up of three parts. The first part is an ending, whether it is an intentional one or unplanned. Endings always involve some grief and pain. The second part is the wilderness, an unmapped territory both in terms of emotions and expectations. The third part is a new beginning, the start of a new career path. Our culture often tries to jump immediately to stage three, the new beginning, without paying attention to stages one and two. Pastor John Keller will be teaching how attending to both endings and the wilderness, can best prepare us for stage three, a new beginning, such as a new job.
One doesn't discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time. - Andre' Gilde, French Novelist
It's not so much that we're afraid of change or so in love with the old ways, but it's that place in between that we fear. . . . It's like being between trapezes. It's Linus when his blanket is in the dryer. There's nothing to hold on to. - Marilyn Ferguson, American futurist.
