  Calling Pastor Michael Carlson

There will be a congregational meeting on Wednesday evening, May 14, at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary to vote on calling Michael Carlson, Associate Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, to the position of Executive Pastor of Staff Development and Evangelism at St. Andrew's.

As Executive Pastor of Staff Development and Evangelism, Michael will assist me in the day-to-day operations of our church. In addition to preaching and Pastoral Ministry, Michael will help develop the Team Ministry of St. Andrew's staff. He will also focus on the areas of local mission, evangelism, contemporary worship and will work closely with the Pastor of Children, Youth and Family Ministry and our Children's and Youth Ministry teams.

Michael has spent a day visiting with our staff. He also has been interviewed by a consultant to assure that he is a good match for St. Andrew's. The Call Committee that interviewed Mike has confirmed that his person and preaching will help lead St. Andrew's to the future God is calling us to. A Call Committee is now being formed to search for the person who is to be our Pastor of Children, Youth and Family Ministry.

Some of Pastor Mike's accomplishments are:

  • Instrumental in starting Grace House Homeless Shelter in Grand Rapids MN

Michael is sought after as a speaker at Youth Conferences across the country. Mike and his wife, Tammy, have three children: Casey, 19; Joshua, 13; and Kristian, 10.
