Foundation Frequently Asked Questions
Q. If I make a donation to the Foundation, may I designate a specific use for my gift?
A. Yes. The Foundation encourages gifts for specific uses that are consistent with the Foundation's mission. Unrestricted gifts are also encouraged.
Q. Is there a minimum gift amount?
A. No. In fact we gratefully accepted a gift of $1.00 from one of our early donors.
Q. Will any of the principal be spent?
A. The principal of endowed funds will not be spent. Expenses of the Foundation will be paid with investment earnings, donations designated for operations, or other unrestricted funds.
Q. If I donate to the Foundation, will it be used in the annual budget of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church?
A. No. Not unless that is the donor's specific intention.
Q. Is my gift tax deductible?
A. Yes. The Foundation is qualified as a charitable 501(c)3 organization. Gifts are normally tax deductible, but each donor should check with their own tax adviser.
