Spring cleaning? Make Yourself 'New'
|
We, the congregation of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, seek to proclaim Jesus Christ and the exciting power of new life He brings.
Through worship, prayer, study, fellowship and the sharing of our spiritual gifts, this community of believers is committed to grow towards full maturity in Christ.
For years, the above was St. Andrew's Mission Statement. |
The first part is based on the verse from 2 Corinthians 5:17 - So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! Actively participating as a member of St. Andrew's can help one make this happen, can reshape one's life and purpose.
The last part of the mission statement, Growing towards full maturity in Christ is a definition of “discipleship” - a Christian's intentional journey in response to God's grace. Identifying the marks of discipleship gives us guideposts for spiritual growth. They help us experience the joy and responsibilities of our faith. We offer them in the hope that they will assist, encourage and direct you to a closer walk with the Lord and the exciting power of new life he brings.
