Backpacks and School Supplies Needed!

Backpacks and school supplies are needed for 400+ local children living in poverty here in our community (Mahtomedi, Stillwater and White Bear School Districts) and at shelters at East Metro Women's Council, Tubman Alliance, The Dwelling Place and children at The Salvation Army and The Alley Shoppe.  Let's help these kids start the new school year off right!

Please consider helping a child this year with their much-needed school supplies and backpack by:

     1)  Selecting a "Sponsor A Child" tag from the "Giving Tree".  Place the the filled backpack under the "Giving Tree" by Friday, Aug. 20, with tag attached and we will deliver it to your selected child.  You are invited to include an inspirational note to the child.

     2)  Take a "School Supplies Shopping List" from the Narthex or below, go shopping and bring the backpack and/or supplies back to the "Giving Tree" by Friday, Aug. 20.   This is a great way to take advantage of those great Back to School sales and help provide lots of supplies for kids in need.

If you don't have time to shop, consider giving financial assistance. We have secret shoppers that are willing to shop on your behalf!  Your donation of $20 can purchase the needed tools for an elementary student, and $50 provides tools for middle school.  Indicate "School Tools" in  the memo line of your check to St. Andrew's.  If you have any questions, please contact Kellie Cardinal at 651-762-9124.

The Stillwater Senior Center is hosting the annual “Baubles, Bangles and Bobbers Used Jewelry Sale” on Thursday, Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please consider doing some de-cluttering and donate your used jewelry, jewelry boxes and/or gently used purses to a great cause.  Also, we are looking for small sporting goods, such as fishing lures, tackle, golf items, etc. for our special room for “the guys.”  Proceeds from the fundraiser help to provide quality programs, classes and educational opportunities for participants. Donations will he accepted until July 30 and can be dropped off at the Stillwater Senior Center, 2300 W. Orleans Street or in the designated church donation box in the Narthex. Thank you for your support!  For more information call Karla at 651-439-7434.
