Special Trips Awaiting 2010 in Martin, Slovakia

We invite you to consider a special trip with members of St. Andrew’s and other congregations to participate in building or teaching children or adults. Has God gifted you with skills which could – and should – be put to work in his service? The Lord has a place for you! We need teachers for Conversational English, VBS teachers and helpers, and for these classes you do not need to be a trained teacher. Curriculum is provided and we work in teams.
Another opportunity to participate in the mission of the schools in Martin is to play in the Vision Slovakia Golf FUNdraiser at Indian Hills Country Club. All the proceeds from this event go to the sponsoring of scholarship help for students in the Lutheran Elementary School in Martin.

The New Year is here and it is time to learn about the St. Andrew’s mission trips to Martin, Slovakia, this year to teach Vacation Bible School with children, Conversational English with adult students of the Bible School, and work with a Builders’ Group.
Teaching Conversational English
Once again we have a marvelous opportunity to teach adult students of the Bible School in a required English course in their program. These students are learning English so that upon graduation they will be able to teach and lead groups of children and youth in the Christian faith worldwide.
The group will depart Minneapolis/St. Paul airport on June 24, teach Conversational English for two weeks (June 28 to July 2 and July 5-9). The group will return home with the VBS group through Edinburgh, Scotland on July 15.

Teaching Vacation Bible School
This will be our tenth year of teaching Vacation Bible School in Martin, Slovakia. Each year children come to learn about the Christian faith in story, drama, songs and crafts. Many of these children come from families that do not attend church. We have a need for teachers who love children and who want to make a difference in the lives of these children.
The group will depart Minneapolis/St. Paul airport on July 1, teach Vacation Bible School during the week of July 5 to 9. The group will return home with the Conversational English group through Edinburgh, Scotland on July 15.

Builders’ Group
We are anticipating working on the refurbishing of newly acquired buildings on the Bible School campus and preparing classroom space for the growing Lutheran Elementary School.
