A new homeless shelter is opening in what may seem like an unlikely place — the suburb of Hugo.
“It’s been a long-held dream for us, and now we are on the threshold,” said Jenny Mason, director of the Community Resource Center of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.
The facility, in a six-bedroom Victorian mansion, will be the second homeless shelter in Washington County.
