St. Andrew’s is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael Chan as host of the upcoming Life U series at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.

Dr. Michael Chan is Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul and a lead facilitator for LIFE U at St. Andrew’s. He is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University and holds an M.A. in Old Testament from Luther Seminary and a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Emory University. He is a sought-after adult education speaker, group facilitator, retreat leader, and host of the Gospel Beautiful podcast, which interviews guests about the challenging task of preaching the Gospel in the 21st century.

“I’m excited about this new initiative and thrilled to have Dr. Chan joining us this year,” said Pastor Sarah Breckenridge. “Dr. Chan brings a depth and understanding of scripture that dimensionalizes its meaning in new and insightful ways as he helps us apply Christian practices to everyday living.”

Why do we spend time in prayer and worship in the first place? What are we accomplishing? What’s the point? Why not spend our time achieving concrete and measurable goals? The Bible calls us to the spiritual practices of prayer and worship, but why? And to what end? In October, we explore these questions and examine the Bible’s remarkable claim that prayer and worship not only change us, but they also change the world.

Dr. Chan kicks off the topic in a large group setting and then encourages growth with more in-depth discussions and special breakout sessions led by St. Andrew’s Pastors and Staff.

LIFE U Begins October 7. Find out more information about our courses and October breakout discussion groups.
