Ja’bode 2023. Building Homes. Building Relationships.

The 2023 Season is underway and  Ja’bode, short for “Jamaican Abode”, has resumed its building!  Mission Jamaica missionaries help make simple, decent and affordable housing a reality for families that are in the greatest need.

Building a family a home!  There is a lot of work that goes in to building an approx. 16’x20′ home. Work can include digging footings, bucket brigades to pour concrete, building the structure, installing windows, walls, and a roof…. and lots of painting.

A Ja’bode home is more than just building a home.  Missionaries come together with the future new owners and neighbors in the community to work side by side on the construction. Building relationships, sharing a meal, and seeing the new home come together over 3 days makes this experience especially rewarding.

Costs-Ja’bode building cost have risen drastically the last couple of years to $7000-$7500 to cover the material cost for one home. A home that is life changing for the families we partner with.
