The Nominating Committee of St. Andrew’s Church Council is seeking recommendations to fill three open Church Council positions who will serve 3-year terms beginning in November 2018.

Matt Langer – President
Matt has undergraduate degrees in law enforcement and criminal justice in addition to a Master’s degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration from Metropolitan State University. His strong interest in leadership and strategic planning has benefited a number of organizations and especially serving as the Chief of a large state law enforcement agency in Minnesota. He also teaches part time at Century College in the criminal justice program. Matt’s wife Katie and two daughters, Megan and Mallory are proud to call St. Andrew’s home. The Langer family chose to become members of St. Andrew’s because they truly thrive off the messages and music provided each week.
Jewelie Grape – Vice President
Jewelie was led to St. Andrew’s through a multi-church mission trip to teach vacation bible school in Slovakia five years ago. She joined St. Andrew’s in 2014. She loves the music, and says St. Andrew’s feels like home. Jewelie has a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in human resources from the University of Minnesota, as well as a law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Jewelie was in-house counsel for the Board of Pensions of the ELCA (now called Portico Benefit Services) for ten years before returning to private practice. She works in the area of employee benefits – assisting corporations, nonprofits and religious organizations with health, retirement, executive compensation and corporate governance issues.
Sarah Ecker – Treasurer
Sarah has been a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church for 21 years. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College with a degree in Economics and has had a career as an investment portfolio manager, most recently as chief investment officer for Sargent Management Company. Sarah is married to Jim and they have three children. Now an at-home mother, Sarah’s primary focus is on her family. The Ecker family enjoys traveling, skiing, cabin time and tennis. Sarah has been a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Foundation Board at St. Andrew’s.
Myron Goeser – Secretary
Myron and his wife Annette have been members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church since 2004. They along with their two daughters have been involved in the preschool, youth music, Vacation Bible Schoool and Sunday School programs. The Goesers are Sunday School volunteers, Community Recourse Center volunteers, and have participated in various Bible Studies. Myron grew up on a dairy farm in northeast North Dakota and graduated from NDSU with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He has been a management consultant for two decades, working with clients to address business process and system issues.
Keith says, “God led our family to St. Andrew’s in 2011 when we relocated from Houston, Texas.” Currently Keith is a Business Development Manager at Northwire, Inc. While in Texas he worked twelve years at NASA in various capacities from engineering support for the space shuttle to integrating multiple countries’ science and research activities for the International Space Station. Keith has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, a Project Management Professional certification and a passion for leadership and management. Keith’s family includes his wife Kristy and two sons, Walter and George.
Bill and his wife Deb fell in love with St. Andrews after a visit in the summer of 2015 when the service and music inspired them to join the congregation that fall. Bill and Deb have three adult children and recently moved to White Bear Lake. During his 33 years at 3M, Bill has held technical and business roles that relocated the family seven times. During an assignment in Asia, Bill was the Human Resource Elder and later the President of the congregation at Tokyo Union Church. Bill also served on the Board of MIT’s One Laptop per Child program that focused on bringing technology to the developing world. Being a part St. Andrews church has enriched members of Bill’s extended family. Earlier this year, Bill’s mother and step-father moved into St. Andrew’s Village where they have found a new spiritual home. This summer Bill and Deb enjoyed walking in the footsteps of Martin Luther with 70 other St. Andrew’s Pilgrims. Bill looks forward to using his spiritual and professional experiences to advance the global mission of St. Andrews’ to proclaim, live, and serve in Christ’s name.
David has been a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church since childhood. David is a graduate of St. Olaf College and is a Physician with Allina Medical Group. David is married to Brenda and they have four daughters. David’s time is given to family activities and running.
Jenna Lang (Student Representative)
Jenna is a junior at Mahtomedi High School. She has been active in St. Andrew’s youth ministry program for several years, including Confirmation, summer camp, and weekly youth programs, as well as singing in the high school choir. She is involved in the Peer Ministry program and has taken on leadership roles as a Confirmation small group leader, summer camp counselor, and youth worship band member. In the past she has led Sunday School and VBS. She looks forward to serving the youth of St. Andrew’s through this leadership experience, using her gifts of listening and attempting to see topics from multiple perspectives.
Beth, her husband Jim, and their two kids, Josh and Sara, became members of St. Andrews in 2002. Beth and Jim were attracted to St. Andrews by the preaching, the music and the children’s programming. Over the years, Beth taught Sunday school and led a small group for confirmation. After participating in a Mission Jamaica trip in 2015, the entire family became more involved in church, with Beth volunteered to write new job descriptions for each of the positions at St. Andrews. This summer Beth and her family celebrated the 500th anniversary of the Reformation by going on the two week tour of Germany led by Brian Norsman and Michael Carlson. Beth has over 20 years of experience in human resources. She has led the HR function in several organizations and worked with numerous Boards of Directors across the country. Beth is looking forward to using her professional experience to benefit St. Andrews and is excited to see what the future holds for our church. Beth lives in Lino Lakes with her family and two dogs.
Bruce has been a member at St. Andrews for 20 years and lives in Dellwood with his 2 daughters. He is the Vice President of Marsh & McLennan Agencies Upper Midwest risk management and insurance brokerage business. Bruce also serves as the Board Chair for the Kate P Smith Foundation as well as sitting on the Board of Directors for CaringBridge. Bruce earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration at the University of MN-Duluth and his Masters of Science in Communication at Northwestern University.
Kathy and her husband Kurt Galenti have been members of St. Andrew’s for more than 25 years. They have two adult children, Betsy and TJ. Kathy is an Associate with Thrivent Financial, Minneapolis, MN., a position she has held for more than two decades. Prior work experience includes, Accountant, Cargill Inc. A strong community supporter, Kathy serves as a Trustee for the Stillwater Public Library and also on the Board of Directors for the Gustavus Adolphus College Association of Congregations, Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities and Lutheran Services in Tennessee. Kathy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Gustavus Adolphus College.
Rebecca and her husband Glenn have been members of St. Andrews since the Fall of 2012. Throughout life, Rebecca’s passion has been to build community. This passion has encouraged her honing of management skills in seven separate fields during her career. Her husband, Glenn, an ELCA pastor, retired after 40+ years of ministry serving parishes in urban, suburban and rural settings, and most recently, interim director of The Center for Stewardship Leaders at Luther Seminary. Rebecca continues to enjoy creative arts, and periodically provides freelance marketing/communications, design and strategic planning services. As a member at St. Andrew’s, she sings in the St. Andrew’s Choir, participates in St. Andrew’s Prayer Life, and represents St. Andrew’s on the Board of St. Andrew’s Village.
