Saying Yes to Life – Lenten Book Study – Tuesdays 7 pm

By |2021-02-22T11:46:48-06:00January 26th, 2021|Lent Holy Week & Easter|

Saying Yes to Life A Lenten Book Study facilitated by Pastor Glenn Taibl Tuesdays, Feb. 23-March 30, 7 p.m. on Zoom Through the six weeks of Lent, we will read Genesis 1 together and see how the themes of this opening chapter of the Bible weave their way through the biblical story and into our lives. We'll be using the book, "Say Yes to Life" by Ruth Valero (please acquire your own digital or hard copy). We will use the days of creation to open our eyes to the world around us; to the people who live in it with their diversity of gifts and struggles; and to the other inhabitants who share our space and environments. Each chapter will look at one of the days of creation and will focus on various aspects of the natural world that are created on that day. We shall then ask the question of how our stewardship embraces the care of creation in our contemporary world. Ash Wednesday – Wednesday, Feb. 17

By |2021-02-17T13:02:22-06:00January 26th, 2021|Lent Holy Week & Easter|

Begin the journey to the cross on Ash Wednesday, February 17. On Ash Wednesday we begin our forty-day journey toward Easter with a day of fasting and repentance. Marking our foreheads with dust, we acknowledge that we die and return to the earth. At the same time, the dust traces the life-giving cross indelibly marked on our foreheads at baptism. While we journey through Lent to return to God, we have already been reconciled to God through Christ. We humbly pray for God to make our hearts clean while we rejoice that “now is the day of salvation.” Returning to our baptismal call, we more intentionally bear the fruits of mercy and justice in the world. Noon - 6:00 p.m. Blessing and Ashes Pickup* at Great Hall  Our pastors and staff will welcome you in a socially-distanced way as we mark the beginning of our Lenten Journey. Drive up to receive a blessing and/or ashes-to-go, plus pick up a bag with a devotional and other resources to bring us together during this holy time. Please enter from Hilton Trail and drive to Door 8 (main front door) of the Great Hall. *To protect all of us safely during this continuing time of COVID-19, we will not be doing physical imposition of ashes.  Ashes will be provided to go only. 7 pm  - Ash Wednesday Worship Online watch worship online Download our communion bread recipe
