Confirmation Camp Leaders at Camp Wapo

High school youth are invited to be part of the leadership team for this summer’s Confirmation Camp. Leaders shape the weeklong camp experience for our middle school Confirmation students at Camp Wapo as cabin leaders and through leading activities, games, worship, and more. This is an excellent opportunity to serve in leadership as a guide and mentor.  Participation in Camp Leader Training is required. Training dates are Feb. 23, March 22, April 19, May 3, and May 31. The cost for high school youth is approximately half of the full cost of attending Confirmation Camp and is reduced as part of our commitment to invest in youth leadership. Further financial assistance is available upon request.

Camp Leader Weekend

June 12-14 at Ox Lake

Confirmation Camp Leaders are invited to take some time after camp to rest and recharge at Ox Lake. Leadership is tough and meaningful work, and this weekend is a perfect opportunity to reflect on your camp experience. We will debrief camp, play games, eat food, worship together, and take naps. You won’t want to miss out on all of the fun!


Vacation Bible School

June 22-26; 8:30 a.m.-12 noon
Completed Grades 9-12
No cost

High school youth are invited to serve as volunteer teachers, assistants, and program leaders for the 500 children who attend VBS. Teen volunteers are a vital part of making this a life changing event! We need your gifts! Full details available on the VBS webpage.

 


Boundary Waters Canoe Adventure

July 25-30
Completed Grades 9-12
Cost: $400 (21 spots available)

High school youth are invited to venture into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for a camping experience unlike any other! The BWCA is a land full of adventure that will leave you amazed at God’s marvelous creation and inspired by this Christ-centered wilderness experience. We will partner with the trusted canoe guides of Wilderness Canoe Base out of Grand Marais, Minn., and learn how to cook more than s’mores over a campfire. The six-day trip includes three nights in the wilderness and a final day resting and relaxing at camp before returning home. The maximum group size of each canoe group is seven, including five youth, an adult from St. Andrew’s, and an adult guide. Limited space is available!

High School Wilderness Tour

July 12-19
Completed grades 9-12
Cost: $400

Join us on a trek through three National Parks. First, we head through The Badlands in South Dakota, then through Glacier National Park in Montana, and then Yellowstone in Wyoming. We’ll explore the power of creation, the effect it has on our perspective, and how the beauty of nature enriches our experience of our everyday lives!

Family Baseball Night

Sunday, July 19, 5:05 p.m. (game time) at CHS Field in St. Paul

Spend a summer evening with other church families at this fun, family-friendly event while cheering on the Saints against the Milwaukee Milkmen! As an added bonus, we’ve arranged for several St. Andrew’s participants to join in the on-field promotional activities during the game. Pre-game activities include the Saints Reading Tree from 4:10-4:30 p.m. in the right field corner, children are invited to run the bases and meet players immediately following the game.
Cost is $20 per person for reserved infield seats; children under age 2 that do not require a seat are free of charge. Early registration closes June 15 with limited tickets available following. Lake Superior Sabbath Retreat
(formerly Apostle Islands Trip)

Aug. 16-20
Completed Grades 6-12
Cost: $225 

This five-day retreat provides plenty of Sabbath rest and relaxation before the start of a new school year! Experience the breathtaking scenery on and around Lake Superior, with plenty of outdoor adventures, inspiring worship, and being part of a close-knit faith community. The group will stay overnight in tents at Camp Amnicon, with canoeing on Lake Superior, time on the beachfront, hiking to a bluff overlooking the lake, and a day trip to Duluth. The retreat is led by Per Nestingen and Josh Carlson.

This retreat is offered in place of the popular Apostles Islands Trip, as we were unable to secure campsites on Madeline Island for 2020.

 


High School Youth Fellowship Events

A number of high school youth events will be held through July and August — many of them led by our fantastic summer internship team! Details will be announced in June.


Youth Ministry Summer Celebration

A celebration of all things summer (trips, retreats, Bible studies, bonfires, and more) within the world of youth ministry will be shared with the congregation during Great Hall worship services. Youth speakers will bring their summer adventures to life as they retell some of their greatest memories of summer 2019.


Summer Camp Opportunities

High school youth can participate in summer camp opportunities at Camp Wapo, Ox Lake, and Wilderness Canoe Base, including hiking trips, Island Camp, Boundary Water canoe trips, and more. See campwapo.org for details.


Financial Assistance Available

Thanks to the generosity of many church members, we are able to offer financial support for children and youth (preschool-grade 12) to participate in our programs – including summer events.
