Confirmation Camp Leaders at Camp Wapo

High school youth are invited to be part of the leadership team for this summer’s Confirmation Camp. Leaders shape the weeklong camp experience for our middle school Confirmation students at Camp Wapo as cabin leaders and through leading activities, games, worship, and more. This is an excellent opportunity to serve in leadership as a guide and mentor.  Participation in Camp Leader Training is required. Training dates are Sundays, Feb. 3, March 3, April 7, May 5, and June 2, 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the Youth and Sports Center Pier 7. Camp Leader Weekend

June 14-16 at Ox Lake

Confirmation Camp Leaders are invited to take some time after camp to rest and recharge at Ox Lake. Leadership is tough and meaningful work, and this weekend is a perfect opportunity to reflect on your camp experience. We will debrief camp, play games, eat food, worship together, stay up really late, and take naps. You won’t want to miss out on all of the fun!


Vacation Bible School

June 17-21; 8:30 a.m.-12 noon

High school youth are invited to serve as volunteer teachers, assistants, and program leaders for the 500 children who attend VBS. Teen volunteers are an important part of making this a terrific event! Full details available on the VBS webpage.

 


Boundary Waters Canoe Adventure

June 26-30

High school youth are invited to venture into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for a camping experience unlike any other! The BWCA is a land untouched with endless adventurous possibilities. We will partner with the trusted canoe guides of Wilderness Canoe Base out of Grand Marais, Minn., and learn how to cook more than s’mores over a campfire. Limited space is available! Washington, D.C. Service and Immersion Trip

July 12-21

High school youth will learn the importance of community engagement, servant leadership, and service learning in the heart of Washington, D.C. This trip focuses on learning from the people of D.C. and how to bring the experience home in hopes of making a difference in our own communities. Our group will stay at Luther Place Memorial Church in the heart of D.C. and spend some quality time touring the historic monuments that our national capital has to offer! This summer experience also includes stops at Navy Pier in Chicago, Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh, and Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio! Get ready to have the most fun while learning about the colorful and meaningful stories of the people of Washington, D.C.

Urban Immersion Service Retreat

We are called to love and serve our neighbor — and this weekend retreat offers an opportunity to do just that! High school youth are invited to drive a short distance to learn the stories of our Minnesotan neighbors while engaging in meaningful service learning projects around the Twin Cities. Youth will have a chance to eat food from all over the world and learn about some tough issues that many Minnesotans face.

Apostle Islands Trip

Aug. 18-23

This six-day adventure and retreat experience includes breathtaking scenery, time for worship, outdoor adventures (including whitewater rafting), and being part of a close-knit faith community.  Spend a day of service with the Red Cliff Reservation on the way to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in northern Wisconsin – with three days of camping on beautiful Madeline Island.  This amazing, relaxing retreat is a great way to take a break from the hurry of everyday life and get ready for the upcoming school year.

Bonfire Bible Studies

Thursdays, July 11 through Aug. 8, 7 p.m. (locations below)

High school youth are invited to come together, listen to God’s Word, and experience fellowship around a backyard bonfire. Marshmallows to roast, graham crackers to toast, chocolate to melt, and so many feelings to be felt. Get ready for a fiery time! Hiking, Hammocks, and Hangouts!

Tuesdays, July 9 through Aug. 6, 10 a.m. (meet in the Youth and Sports Center)

As the title implies, youth are invited into the great outdoors this summer! Together we will explore God’s presence in nature by hiking, kayaking, and hanging in hammocks. Locations will be announced as summer nears.

Jesus at the Movies

Jesus at the Movies is a healthy mix of movies + Bible study! Jesus is present at church, in day-to-day relationships and in acts of kindness. This summer we’ll also find Jesus in three different cinematic experiences! High school youth are invited to watch movies, eat food, and have a great discussion.

Minnesota State Fair Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, Aug. 25, 9:30 a.m. (meet at the Youth and Sports Center)

Let’s take a trip to the Great Minnesota Get-together! High school youth are invited to a photo scavenger hunt around the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Let’s see whose team can take the most creative photos while experiencing the best Minnesota has to offer. Food will be eaten and fun will be had by all! Youth Ministry Summer Celebration

Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11, all Great Hall worship services

A celebration of all things summer (trips, retreats, Bible studies, bonfires, and more) within the world of youth ministry will be shared with the congregation during Great Hall worship services. Youth speakers will bring their summer adventures to life as they retell some of their greatest memories of summer 2019.


Summer Camp Opportunities
