Confirmation Camp at Camp Wapo

June 8-12

More than 125 Confirmation youth attend an incredible week of faith and fun including large group sessions, worship, free-time games, campfires, and more. Explore more of our summer theme “Dare Mighty Things!” Camp Wapo is located near Amery, Wisconsin, about an hour from the church, and is a beautiful setting to explore God’s creation and to grow in faith. The program is led by St. Andrew’s staff, summer interns, and 65 high school leaders. This is a week not to be missed!  A summer camp or mission experience is required at least once as part of the Confirmation program.

Youth attending Confirmation Camp first register with St. Andrew’s and then complete their registration (including health information and a medical release) with Camp Wapo.  A link to complete the Camp Wapo registration will be provided to you after you register with St. Andrew’s.

St. Andrew’s provides bus transportation from St. Andrew’s to Camp Wapo on Monday morning.  Parents pick up their campers at Camp Wapo on Friday afternoon.

Vacation Bible School – God Squad

June 22-26, 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
Completed Grades 6-8
Cost: $15

Join the middle school youth leadership team that provides vital support for Vacation Bible School.  Youth assist high school and adult volunteers with small groups moving from place to place or serve at a specific station (such as Bible study, games, music, or snacks) for the week.

Middle School Mission Trip – Denver!

July 12-18

We will be heading up into the beautiful mountain land of Denver, Colorado. We will be staying deep in God’s creation at The Messiah Mountain Retreat Center at night. Our days will be spent at service learning adventures in and around Denver serving the community and the people of the city. We will go on hikes, learn about how God is moving in some amazing communities, and (of course) visit the city where Chipotle was founded!

The registration cost for this trip is significantly reduced thanks to the generosity of St. Andrew’s members who financially support youth ministries. Further financial assistance is available upon request.

Lake Superior Sabbath Retreat
(formerly Apostle Islands Trip)

This five-day retreat provides plenty of Sabbath rest and relaxation before the start of a new school year! Experience the breathtaking scenery on and around Lake Superior, with plenty of outdoor adventures, inspiring worship, and being part of a close-knit faith community. The group will stay overnight in tents at Camp Amnicon, with canoeing on Lake Superior, time on the beachfront, hiking to a bluff overlooking the lake, and a day trip to Duluth. The retreat is led by Per Nestingen and Josh Carlson.

This retreat is offered in place of the popular Apostles Islands Trip, as we were unable to secure campsites on Madeline Island for 2020.

Summer Stretch is an exciting summer series for middle school youth that combines morning service projects with afternoon opportunities for fun. Each morning we gather at St. Andrew’s to start with a word of prayer and bless the day.  We then travel by vans around the Twin Cities for service opportunities with incredible people who have a deep love for their communities.  After lunch, we spend the afternoon having fun together (past experiences have included a waterpark, Mall of America, and Como Park Zoo). The program is led by Josh Carlson, Middle School Youth Minister, and summer youth ministry interns. Join us for Wednesdays of service and fun!  Come to one — or come to them all!

Family Baseball Night

Sunday, July 19, 5:05 p.m. (game time) at CHS Field in St. Paul

Spend a summer evening with other church families at this fun, family-friendly event while cheering on the Saints against the Milwaukee Milkmen! As an added bonus, we’ve arranged for several St. Andrew’s participants to join in the on-field promotional activities during the game. Pre-game activities include the Saints Reading Tree from 4:10-4:30 p.m. in the right field corner, children are invited to run the bases and meet players immediately following the game.
Cost is $20 per person for reserved infield seats; children under age 2 that do not require a seat are free of charge. Early registration closes June 15 with limited tickets available following. Youth Ministry Summer Celebration

A celebration of all things summer (trips, retreats, Bible studies, bonfires, and more) within the world of youth ministry will be shared with the congregation during Great Hall worship services. Youth speakers will bring their summer adventures to life as they retell some of their greatest memories of summer 2020.

Summer Camp Opportunities

Middle school youth can participate in summer camp opportunities at Camp Wapo, Ox Lake, and Wilderness Canoe Base, including youth camps, Horse Club, Fishing Club, hiking trips, Boundary Water canoe trips, and more. See campwapo.org for details.

Financial Assistance Available

Thanks to the generosity of many church members, we are able to offer financial support for children and youth (preschool-grade 12) to participate in our programs – including summer events.
