Preschool Bible Blessing at St. Andrew’s
As preschoolers enter their first year of Sunday School, we recognize the beginning of their Christian education journey by presenting them with a children’s story Bible. As they are introduced to God’s Word, they learn the foundational stories of faith, about God’s love for them and for all people, and about the life and teachings of Jesus.
The Preschool Bible Blessing Skipping Stone includes participating in a workshop and a celebration and blessing of children during worship.
At the workshop, children and families are introduced to their new Spark Story Bible, learning fun, interactive ways to read and retell Bible stories with everyday objects at home. This is also an excellent opportunity to meet families of other preschoolers. Children attend with at least one parent.
Children are formally presented their Spark Story Bibles during a worship service by their parent(s), symbolizing the baptismal promise to “place into their hands the holy scriptures.” Families are then encouraged to use their Bible regularly at home as part of family devotions and at special celebrations (such as Christmas or Easter). Children are also invited to bring their Bibles to church, where they are regularly used in our Sunday School classes.
The Bibles are a gift made possible by the Mustard Seed Fund of the Foundation of St. Andrew’s.
