Skipping Stones Ministry

Our Skipping Stones ministry celebrates six moments in a child’s journey of life and faith, reminding them they are a beloved child of God and part of a church family. Each Skipping Stone includes an interactive workshop to support families in fulfilling baptismal promises to nurture faith in their children. We then celebrate and bless children/youth during worship as a reminder that the congregation also promises to encourage families in the life of faith.

Confirmation

During the three years of Confirmation, middle school youth begin own their faith journey — learning what it means to be a Christian, what make us Lutheran, and what it means to live out our faith in daily life.

During the fall of 9th grade, students who intend to affirm their faith will have four weeks of small group meetings and a weekend retreat to walk through “what’s next” in their faith journey. Confirmation services are held during worship services on Reformation Weekend.

Senior Blessing

High school graduation is a time of excitement and celebration (sometimes mixed with stress or uncertainty) as our teenagers mark a significant moment in their journey of life and faith. We send them into all that remains ahead, praying that God will bless, keep, and guide their hearts and reminding them of both God’s constant presence and the love, support, and encouragement of St. Andrew’s faith community.

The Senior Blessing Skipping Stone is a celebration in early June that includes a brunch and a blessing in worship.

Children and Youth Music Opportunities

St. Andrew’s offers a variety of options for children and youth (Grades K-12) to be involved in vocal and instrumental music groups. For details and registration for choirs, please visit the youth music page.
