Throughout history much has been written about the nature of God. God is eternal, God is love, God is good. The list is endless. But one thing stands strong from a biblical perspective: God is faithful.
In the Old Testament God continually fulfills the promises that were made in the past, are fulfilled in the future, and are taking place in the NOW. We are all living into the promises of the past today. In the New Testament, Jesus always fulfills his promises and IS the promise given to the world in the Old Testament. All of this points to how God is faithful.
This Advent we lean into the promise of a faithful God. We let that truth soak deep into our tired and weary souls. We — who have had experiences where the world has let us down, where we have been betrayed — are asked to put our trust in a God that we cannot see. This takes a community, and it takes practice.
During these weeks leading up to Christmas, we will deepen our trust in a faithful God. Here are some ways I invite you to plug in:

Then this Christmas I invite you to participate in the most faithful moment of the church year, the moment God breaks into our world and in faithful love grafts God’s very heart to the hearts of all people. In the faithfulness of God we can, will, and do find hope.
